Officer Decisions

Head of Planning, Transportation and Environment - Dave Black

Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:

To approve the date for joint adoption of the Cornwall & West Devon World Heritage Site Supplementary Planning Document [the SPD]

Decision Taken:

Approved:  Following the resolution of Development Management Committee on 23rd November 2016 (*29) to jointly adopt with Cornwall Council and West Devon Borough Council the SPD, to confirm the date of joint adoption as 31st May 2017

Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:

Adoption of the SPD with the two other planning authorities is required to ensure the availability of adequate planning guidance to protect the Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Site.  Following approval for adoption by West Devon Borough Council on 23rd May 2017, the three planning authorities are now able to proceed to joint adoption.

Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:

The Development Management Committee has resolved to jointly adopt the SPD, and the only matter to confirm is the date of this adoption.  Prompt adoption is required in order to secure the Outstanding Universal Value of the World Heritage Site, and a later date may prejudice this.

Details of any conflict of interest and dispensation granted to the Officer taking the decision or by any Member of the Council in delegating responsibility for any specific express delegation:
