With a significant fall in the number of older people using day centres and changing user expectations with a desire for greater flexibility and choice, we are reviewing how services might best be delivered in future.
Recognising this, the council’s Community Life Choices Strategy has suggested a move away from building-based provision to more community-based day opportunities.
A series of consultation documents were produced detailing proposals for each current day centre.
Each proposal considered current capacity, future demand, the condition of the building and its potential to be used for other council services. We also look at the other community day services already operating in the same area.
