Northern Devon Children’s Centre services will be re-commissioned as two contracts based on the North Devon and Torridge district council boundaries. Each area will have one or more main children’ centre sites as well as linked sites for delivery of children’s centre services
The main children’s centre sites have been decided based on the Indices of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), as well as the number of Under 5’s living in the area. Linked sites have been kept to ensure that families can easily access children’s centre services and outreach support will continue to be provided.
Within the North Devon area, there will be two main children’s centre sites and linked sites which will support 5,037 children under 5, of which 1,160 are in the top 30% of deprivation. These sites include;
Within the Torridge area, there will be one main children’s centre sites and two linked sites which will support 3,391 children under 5, of which 613 are in the top 30% of deprivation. These sites include;
Over the coming months, we will be looking at the use of the other Children’s Centre buildings to support the delivery of other early years services. There will be further discussions with the local community about;
The transfer of these buildings could help to support an additional 430 places for disadvantaged 2 year olds in the Northern Devon area.
