Emotional wellbeing and mental health

If you are concerned about your own mental health, or you are worried about the mental health of a relative or someone you care for you should speak to a GP in the first instance.

Mental health services in Devon are provided by the NHS in partnership with Devon and Torbay councils, and with support from voluntary and independent organisations. Specialist mental health services are provided by Devon Partnership NHS Trust. They provide services for:

  • eating disorders
  • older people with mental illness
  • alcohol and substance abuse
  • early psychosis
  • rehabilitation to help people recovering from mental illness to develop new work skills.

The Devon Partnership NHS Trust website offers a range of resources to help promote mental health and personal wellbeing. The Trust has produced a 5 ways to wellbeing personal guide.

The Mental Health Commissioning Strategy for Devon, Plymouth and Torbay 2014-2017 explains our commitment to improving services for people with mental health problems.

We also have a Provider Engagement Network for organisations interested in providing mental health services in Devon.
