If you or someone you know has a problem with alcohol or drugs, there’s a wide range of services that can help.

Local support in Devon

Are you worried about your drug or alcohol use, or are you a professional who would like to refer someone you are supporting?

Together Drug and Alcohol Service supports adults living in Devon to address their drug or alcohol use (or both).

They are committed to:

  • a person-centred support
  • collaborating with other organisations
  • a family and community focus
  • working with people rather than for people
  • recognising trauma

Together’s services include:

  • advice and information on how to reduce harm
  • group work programmes
  • one worker to coordinate support and offer support on a one-to-one basis
  • whole family support
  • programmes and activities to support recovery
  • prescribing options such as methadone and prescribing for alcohol detoxification
  • needle exchange

The NHS offers alcohol advice and support, including tips on how to reduce your alcohol intake and getting help with a drug problem.

  • OneSmallStep – Devon-based, helping you understand more about your drinking, what safe levels of drinking are and help you to set goals to cut down.
  • Alcoholics Anonymous – a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism.

  • Adfam – drug and alcohol support for families, carers, and supporting frontline workers
  • Drinkaware – provides independent alcohol advice, information and tools to help people make better choices about their drinking.
  • DrugWise – promoting evidence-based information on drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
  • If using drugs is causing problems in your life, Narcotics Anonymous (NA) can help. NA exists solely so that its members can support each other to stay drug free and to help others achieve and maintain a drug free recovery and lifestyle.
  • Famanon – Families Anonymous is a world wide fellowship of family members and friends affected by another’s abuse of mind-altering substances, or related behavioural problems. FA has groups, spread throughout the country, which meet regularly.
  • NHS – overcoming addiction – If you need treatment for drug addiction, you’re entitled to NHS care in the same way as anyone else who has a health problem.

  • Mental health support – If you are; living with a mental health problem, concerned about the mental health of someone you know, worried that you may be developing mental health issues, we can help you find the right support.
