The scheduled overnight closures of Bridge Road in Exeter will now only take place over two evenings next week.
The closures will be from 10pm to 5am on Tuesday 7 June and Wednesday 8 June, to enable kerbing and surfacing to take place on the east (downstream) side of Bridge Road/Countess Wear Bridge as part of the ongoing improvement work on Bridge Road.
The closure which had been planned for Monday (6 June) has now been cancelled and the road will remain open throughout that evening.
However, the traffic management layout at Matford roundabout will be amended during Monday night. Both lanes from the Devon Motel roundabout to Matford roundabout were opened up before the bank holiday weekend to cope with extra traffic heading towards Powderham for the Radio 1 Big Weekend. This layout, which had remained for the half-term week, will now revert back to the previous arrangement where the left-turn filter into Bridge Road is closed. This will be in place from Tuesday morning.
If your property is accessed directly off Bridge Road itself, access will be maintained during these closures. Residents who have journeys planned during this time, should make contact via this website. Arrangements can then be made with the site management to provide safe access through the works to your property.
Pedestrians and cyclists can continue to use Bridge Road, on the temporary footpath/cyclepaths marked for them, throughout the closures. They may be marshalled through the works and are therefore urged to take care and follow instructions from the site staff.
The work will be completed as soon as possible, and every effort will be made to keep noise, dust and disturbance to a minimum at all times.
