Temporary traffic lights will be introduced on Bridge Road in Exeter overnight tonight to carry out changes to the traffic management and workforce protection zones.
From 11pm tonight, Thursday 5 May, until 5am on Friday, traffic lights will be in place on short lengths of the road. Anyone travelling at this time can expect delays, including limited periods of up to 10 minutes when the lights are set to ‘all-red’ in order to move construction plant.
During this period, the contractor will be placing large metal barriers between the traffic lanes and his working area on 2 structures south of the canal. These 2 structures – known as Alphinbrook culvert, and Exe Flood Relief structure, need structural strengthening work to be carried out to allow for the future widened carriageway. Once the metal barriers are in place, work can safely begin on these 2 structures.
