Apprenticeship Opportunities at Centrax Offer Chance to Master a Trade

Based in Newton Abbot, Devon Centrax Limited is a leading manufacturer of gas turbines generators and components and employs approximately 700 people in its different divisions and locations.

The company is committed to growing its own talent by running its own apprenticeship scheme. Centrax Ltd. invests time and effort into developing the team from the moment the apprenticeship starts. Centrax recruits apprentices for a range of exciting engineering roles, both electrical and mechanical. They range from highly practical and hands on, to others which are more technical and complex.

Apprentices are supported to find out where their strengths lie and what route will best suit their skills and interests. Jessica Morgan, Training Co-Ordinator at Centrax says: ‘Becoming a Centrax apprentice will push them to discover talents and abilities they never knew existed. During their apprenticeship they will need to show an aptitude for leadership, problem solving, team working, prioritising and an ability to meet demanding deadlines. Apprentices will learn new skills, discover the importance of being flexible and show how they can learn from their mistakes’.

As an apprentice at Centrax young people are able to combine classroom learning with on the job experience, leading to an exciting future within engineering. Previous apprentices have developed exciting and demanding careers holding senior engineering positions both within the business or elsewhere. A Centrax Apprenticeship gives opportunity to gain skills that will enable apprentices to work across a range of jobs throughout the company, ranging from craftsmen up to a more senior level.

Get Paid

Get Qualified

Depending upon their trade, apprentices go to College for 2 or 4 years and will study towards a nationally recognised qualification. For those apprentices who perform well and excel at what they do, there are further opportunities. They are able to continue studying beyond their apprenticeship for more advanced qualifications like an HNC, HND, or Foundation Degree leading to a full degree, all supported and sponsored by the company.

All apprentices gain invaluable experience of what is expected when working in an engineering business. This will range from characteristics such as good team work and self-confidence, to the skills and understanding needed within your field of work to become an experienced member of the team.
