How many school improvement officers did your authority employ in 2010/11? 

Four members of staff where the job title is School Improvement Officer.  There are other school improvement staff but their job titles are not school improvement officers, e.g. subject advisors, specialist advisors, quality and monitoring staff, data performance team.

How many local authority maintained schools were these officers responsible for at the start of that academic year?  Please provide a breakdown of the numbers of the type of school: eg primary, secondary, special, pupil referral unit.

Does the council run school improvement services as a traded service for schools?

At the point the school improvement work was commissioned out, DCC ceased its traded school improvement work, however, our commissioned Joint Venture Partner (Babcock LDP) offers traded support to all schools. Details of this support are provided below.

When Local Management of Schools came into effect with the Education Reform Act of 1988 and then transferred as above.

2016-2017 – 170 schools (including Federations and Multi-Academy Trusts).

Babcock School improvement services had an income of £630,746 for their traded work.
