Road Speeds in Knowle

I contacted the Freedom of Information team recently regarding average speeds on the B3178 through Knowle Village.

In your reply you sited data from November 2011 when the speeds of 45,000 vehicles travelling through Knowle was recorded.

You stated the your max/min speed data generally records vehicle speed into 5mph ‘bins’ up to 70mph, although the first ‘bin’ records any vehicles travelling less than 15mph, and last ‘bin’ records any vehicles travelling at or over 70mph, so the precise speeds of any individual vehicle is not recorded.

Could you please tell me the number of vehicles recorded in each ‘bin’ as follows (how many vehicles were listed in each bin eg. >70mph, 2 vehicles)

<15mph
15-20mph
20-25mph
25-30mph
30-35mph
35-40mph
40-45mph
45-50mph
50-55mph
55-60mph
60-65mph
65-70mph
I have already been informed that two vehicles were recorded travelling in excess of 70mph.

Please see the table below regarding the data from the November 2011 speed bins:

Could you also tell me how many reported road traffic incidents and/or accidents there have been on the stretch of road in Knowle village in the last 10 years?

Information regarding the latest five year injury collision data (2012-2016) in the whole of Devon, and therefore including Knowle, is available via our website:

We do not hold information for the five years prior to that.
