1. Has the council installed any energy efficient street lighting in the last five years, such as replacing halogen bulbs with LED street lights?

Yes

2. If the council is in the process of installing any energy efficient street lighting, please confirm when the council started to do this and provide an estimate of when the council expects to have switched all street lights to energy efficient street lighting.

Devon County Council has identified in the region of 25,000 LED lanterns with completion in 2018, DCC is also developing a further plan to replace the remaining 45,600 street lights with LED by 2021, but only if funding is approved.

Devon County Council has saved in excess of £6m since the introduction of Part night light in 2008 (an energy reduction program) and is replacing approx. 25,000 street lights to LED technology with completion in 2018. These combined features now deliver approx. savings of £1.3 (Millions) annually.
