If an employee gives evidence does the council claim expenses

With regard to a civil case which an employee gives evidence does the council claim expenses from the court or do there consider that part of their job if it is in relation to their employment as a council official

In any civil case where Devon County Council is successful in making a claim, or successful in defending a claim which is brought against it, the council will make a claim for the expenses which are incurred by the witness, not against the court, but against the losing party.

Any claims made in a civil case are subject to the rules of the court, set out in the Civil Procedure Rules.

In any case where Devon County Council is unsuccessful, the witness expenses will be borne by the council.
