Please see the Councils response in bold text;

Q1 (a) What budget is available to your authority for Disabled Facilities Grants? Please provide annual figures from 2010 to present. Please indicate any under or over spending

Please note that Devon County Council is not responsible for administering Disabled Facilities Grants.  Therefore this information is not held.

In the interest of providing you with advice and assistance I can confirm that responsibility for administering Disabled Facilities Grants rests with each of the District and Unitary Councils in Devon.  Should you wish to obtain this information you are advised to contact each of these public authorities separately.

Contact details for these Councils are available from the link below;

Q.1(b) How many people were granted physical adjustments or assistance devices (mobility aids, assistive technology) to enable them to live in their own home? Please indicate the numbers for each year from 2010 to present.

Please note that Devon County Council can confirm that we hold information regarding physical adjustments made in our social care client’s homes.  However this information is not held in a format which is easily accessible as the information is held on individual care files.  Therefore to extract and retrieve this information would take in excess of the 18 hours we are obliged to spend answering a Freedom of Information request. For this reason we feel that Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act applies (cost of compliance exceeds the appropriate limit).

In the interest of providing you with advice and assistance please note that District and Unitary Councils have a duty under the Housing Grants Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 to assist with granting housing adaptations.  We would therefore advise you to pursue this request with each of the District & Unitary Councils in Devon.
