Children’s Act 1989 Section 17 accomodation provided by local authority

We would like to collect information on the number of families that are currently in housing provided under section 17 of the children’s act (S 25 in Scotland). We would also like information on the number of 16 and 17-year olds in these households, if this is held.

a) The number of households living in accommodation provided by the local authority under section 17 of the 1989 Children’s Act (Section 25 in Scotland) at the end of March 2018
b) (if available) The total number of adults living in these households at the end of March 2018
c) (if available) The total number of children living in these households at the end of March 2018
d) (if available) The total number of people aged 16 or 17 living in these households at the end of March 2018
e) (if available) Of (d) how many 16 or 17-year olds are living in households where they are living independently and are not living with parents, grandparents or other older relatives.

We hold this information but as disclosure may identify individuals and be in breach of Data Protection Act Principles we consider that the information is exempt under the Freedom of information Act 2000 Section 40(2) Personal Data.

This exemption is an absolute exemption meaning there is no obligation to carry out a public interest test.
