The average number of visits that took place between 1st September 2015 and 30th June 2016 for those children who were under a Child In Need plan at any point between 1st September 2015 and 30th June 2016 = 3.20 visits per child

We confirm the following further information which explains the data provided:

  • The average provided above represents statutory visits. Therefore non-statutory visits are not included in the figures.
  • As requested, this average represents the number of statutory home visits for children in Child In Need plans. This average does not include do not include children under Child Protection Plans or Child Looked After Plans
  • The mean average visits figure is not representative of a typical child’s experience because some will have only been on plan for a small proportion of the period from 1st September 2015 to 30th June 2016 and others will have been on plan for the full duration of the period from 1st September 2015 to 30th June 2016

The average number of visits that took place between 1st September 2015 and 30th June 2016 for those children who were under a Child Protection plan at any point between 1st September 2015 and 30th June 2016 = 8.59 visits per child

We can confirm that Independent Reviewing Officers (who supervise / chair Child Protection meetings) do not chair Child In Need meetings – these are chaired by the allocated Social Worker.

All Initial Child Protection Conferences, Transfer In Conferences and Review Child Protection Conferences are chaired by an Independent Reviewing Officer. Other Child Protection meetings that take place include Core Group meetings – however these are not chaired by an Independent Reviewing Officer.

The combined number of Initial Child Protection Conferences, Transfer In Conferences and Review Child Protection Conferences that took place between 1st September 2015 and 30th June 2016 = 3,041
