1. We are interested to know more about the prices paid (per night, or per 24 hour period) for respite care in a residential care home.

For 65+, the range is £69.28- £125 and an average £74.28
For people aged between 18-64 the range is £33.18 – £258.57 and an average £137.48

2. We are interested to know more about prices paid for day care (per day).

A) What is the most expensive price paid?

C) What is the average of all prices paid?

For 65+, the range is £19.45 day – £90.78 and an average £35.58
For people aged between 18-64 the range is £20.43 – £130.25 and an average £45.17

3. We are interested to know more about any provisions or assumptions which Devon makes during the resource allocation process for direct payments.

A) Do you make notional provision for respite care? If so, how much is allocated per night, or per 24 hour period?

Yes, notional provision is against bandings for building/bed-based respite rate per 24 hr as follows:
Residential 65+ Standard                               £66.86
Residential 65+ Enhanced *                          £71.43
Nursing 65+ Standard                                    £71.86
Nursing 65+ Enhanced *                                £75.43
Residential/Nursing under 65 Standard    £74.43
Residential/Nursing under 65 Enhanced   £81.71

*enhanced applies in circumstances when the individual has care needs associated with the management of significant cognitive or mental health needs that present with behaviours that challenge or resist care provision. Or where complex moving and handling requirements necessitate 2 or more staff.

B) Do you make notional provision for day care? If so, how much is allocated per day?

Yes, notional provisions are as follows:
Standard      £40.00
Enhanced * £50.00

*enhanced applies in circumstances when the individual has care needs associated with the management of significant cognitive or mental health needs that present with behaviours that challenge or resist care provision. Or where complex moving and handling requirements necessitate 2 or more staff.

4. We are interested to gather data concerning outcomes for people as a result of the interventions addressed in questions 1, 2 and 3 above. Do you have any relevant data which you can direct us to?

No at the moment our contracts for these services are cost and volume based and do not routinely collect personal outcome data – however we will be introducing an outcomes based contract for group based services from October 17th 2017 and for replacement care/respite from January 18th 2018.
