Assaults on teachers

1.How many teachers have been assaulted on school premises or just outside school premises in the last three years?

We may hold this information but to collate it we would need to manually review approximately 80 cases of permanent exclusion and between 3000 – 3500 cases of fixed term exclusions for each year to identify if the reason for the exclusion was due to an assault on a teacher. Even if each one only took five minutes the total time needed would be in excess of the 18 hours specified in the Freedom of Information Act Section 12 Cost of Compliance. Therefore we consider this information to be exempt.

2. How many teachers have been assaulted by a parent with a child at their school in the last three years?

3. How much money has been paid out in compensation for teachers who have been assaulted?
