Identify and provide copy of that authority which empowers your Council to fund by way of tax payers monies the private [none Council] Civil legal actions taken by those of its officer’s, employee’s and Councillor’s.

Devon County Council does not pay for private legal fees for officers or members in relation to matters that do not relate to Council business.

The relevant legislation enabling the Council to indemnify officers in this regard is the Localism Act 2011 and more specifically, the general power of competence under s1 of that Act.
